Step 4 · Review and signing

Understand it. Then sign it.

We walk through your plan together, answer your questions, and make any needed changes. When the documents are ready, we arrange the signing option that works for you.

First, we make sure it says what you mean.

We check the names, the people you chose to help, who receives your property, and when they receive it. We explain what each document does and how the documents work together.

Ask the question, even if you think you should already know the answer. You should understand your plan before you sign it.

Option 1 · When available

We provide a remote notary.

Meet the notary by live video through an approved signing platform. We confirm which documents can be handled this way before scheduling.

  1. We arrange the appointment.

We confirm your location, the documents, and any witness arrangements. You receive the appointment details and setup instructions.

  2. You get ready.

Have your ID and a device with a camera, microphone, and reliable internet connection. Follow the platform’s identity checks before signing.

  3. You sign with the notary.

The notary guides the eligible electronic signatures during the video session. Any required witnesses follow the arrangements we confirmed for your documents.

  4. We check the finished documents.

We review the completed packet, provide your copies, and confirm whether any paper originals or additional signing steps remain.

Option 2 · Paper documents

We ship. You sign with a local notary.

Prefer paper, or need an in-person signing? We send your documents with clear instructions for you, the notary, and any required witnesses.

  1. We prepare your signing packet.

We mark where each person signs and explain who must be present. We confirm shipping and return instructions with you.

  2. You arrange the local appointment.

Bring the complete packet and your ID. Arrange the required witnesses using our instructions; the notary does not automatically supply them.

  3. You sign as instructed.

Wait until the instructed signing session. Keep the packet together, and call us if a page or instruction is unclear.

  4. We check it before calling it complete.

Send the signed pages and originals as directed. We check signatures, dates, witness sections, and notarizations, then explain where to keep the originals.

A few things people ask.

Does a notary replace the witnesses?

No. Some documents need witnesses, notarization, or both. We give you instructions for each document and confirm who needs to attend.

Can the whole plan always be signed online?

We check that with you first. Your location, document requirements, the platform, and the receiving institution can affect the available method. If part needs paper signatures, we arrange that part separately.

What if I find something I want changed?

Tell us before signing. We revise the document and send the correct version so you do not have to guess or write changes into a finished packet.

Michigan’s notary requirements

Michigan remote notarizations use state-approved platforms. Remote notarization still requires the notary to meet the applicable legal requirements. Read the Michigan Secretary of State’s notary guidance.

Signed. Checked. Ready for the next step.

Next, we connect your property and accounts to the plan.
